MY BACKGROUND

About me

Dr Ileana Hatton is a Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience, having worked in a diverse range of roles both in Australia and internationally.

In addition to Ileana’s years of private practice, her warm humanitarian and community minded approach has seen her support victims of crime and those in remote and rural areas, patients in the Australian public health care system and survivors of conflict in the Middle East and Africa.

Ileana’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Doctor of Clinical Psychology and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Sydney. Following her training, Ileana completed three missions with Medecins sans Frontieres as a Clinical Psychologist. In addition to patient care, these missions saw Ileana maintaining in-house training and quality assurance for teams of social workers and psychologists. During missions in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Ileana founded and mentored more than five women’s groups to increase social support networks between women in village communities as a protective adjunct to external mental health support. The women’s groups provided educational support on parenting and child protection issues and open a space for the discussion of taboo issues such as domestic violence and sexual violence.

Back in Australia, Ileana has held roles within the Eastern and Central Sydney Sexual Assault Service, Crisis Team (Liverpool Hospital) and the Community Mental Health Core Team (RPA Hospital).

MY ADVANCED STUDY

Modalities I have studied

ACUENERGETICS

I very much enjoy studying metaphysics and the course in Acuenergetics has given me tools to understand how energy influences our mind.

5RHYTHMS DANCE

Through movement, 5Rhythms facilitates deep explorations with the self into new depths of creativity and connection.

HAKOMI

Hakomi is a set of techniques bringing about compassion while more clearly perceiving conflicts within.

Ileana is such a real and compassionate therapist. She has held so much authentic and non-judgemental space for me. I feel like i can share whatever I am going through with her, and she will understand.
